DESCRIPTION:Join us in the unveiling of Williamsburg’s newest mural by world renowned artist\, Iker Muro. This event is free and open to the public.\n\nLocation: 1252 Richmond Road (Side of Marshalls)\nDay: April 12 at 5:30pm\n\nFollowing the unveiling there will be a live performance by Timeline Jazz and light refreshments on the Village Green *weather pending.\n\nThis mural is presented by the City of Williamsburg’s Public Art Council and Midtown Row.\n\nIker Muro (MurOne) is an illustrator and graphic designer who began creating public murals in 2002. Born in Bilbao\, Spain\, Muro describes his work as “an acid mixture of pop culture\, graffiti\, illustration and graphic design.” As a youth\, he began painting on skateboards\, and drawing caricatures of teachers and classmates at his desk in the back of the classroom. He went on to complete his studies in graphic design and has worked in many different disciplines including graffiti\, graphic design\, prints and large-scale murals.\nMuro’s vibrant\, bold murals strike a distinctive balance between design and art. His work draws from his extensive international travels\, and he takes inspiration from whatever city he is painting in. “Traveling and discovering different cultures is a gift\,” he says. “I feel lucky to make my living with what I love\, I don’t know what will happen in the future\, I don’t have a job and a stable life\, but painting and giving life to places that don’t have any is very gratifying.”

DESCRIPTION:Opening on Saturday\, April 20\, Cook’s Burger Bar will reinvigorate the former Matchsticks BBQ Co. space (1246 Richmond Rd.\, Suite A) with an aesthetic that dares to embrace the late-1950s build of the commercial strip. \nThe newest venture from ATG co-founders Andrew Voss and Chris Cook is the locally-based hospitality company’s first brick-and-mortar business outside of Colonial Williamsburg. \nCook’s is a wall-to-wall tribute to nostalgia: wood paneling accented by classic 50’s diner colors like teal\, mustard\, and brick red; stained glass pendants; tile floors studded with atomic starbursts; chrome-rimmed diner tables; and vintage Breweriana. \nVoss calls Cook’s “an homage to classic mid-century Midwestern restaurants and hospitality” with a whimsical menu and aesthetic guaranteed to transport you back to Grandma’s house. \nThe diner-style menu with a flattop focus will at once utilize curated ingredients and reject pretention. A luncheonette-style view of the kitchen makes burgers and fries the star dish. The menu also features mid-century snacks and small plates (e.g. tinned fish\, pickled eggs\, house-made bar mixes\, chicken liver pâté) as well as “Fork & Knife” dishes like “Grandma Style Meatloaf.” \nContemporary touches appear in ATG’s commitment to showcasing local quality ingredients (e.g. regional Certified Angus beef\, topped with local tomatoes from Dayspring Farm (Cologne\, VA) and hydroponic lettuces from ATG’s own Reckon Acres (Charles City). \nThe hallmark of the bar program is an extensive menu of ready-to-drink (RTD) canned beverages: from beer\, wine\, and cocktails to niche N/A selections. Draft options include Cook’s Lite and Cook’s Dark lagers – brewed exclusively for the bar by award-winning Precarious Beer – alongside four rotating draft cocktails. \nMusic will be another crucial component of the ambiance at Cook’s\, further bringing the past alive with throwback playlists and vinyl nights. \nFollowing the Grand Opening on April 20\, Cook’s will be open 7 days a week for lunch\, dinner and late night cravings\, as well as weekend brunch. Cook’s will be home to 85 seats\, including 30 on the front patio

DESCRIPTION:Williamsburg\, let’s swap clothes. We are excited to host our 5th Annual Fashion Revolution Week Clothes Swap. In case you didn’t know\, swapping is revolutionary in the face of fast fashion\, which relies on clothing being treated as disposable.\nTHE DETAILS\nThe Spring Clothes Swap will be happening on Saturday\, April 20th\, from 11am-3pm on the sidewalk in front of our shop. We will have racks and tables sorted according to category and size. All the swapping will be going on outside with accessible fitting rooms inside. \nTICKETS\nYour ticket will get you access to all the goodness going on at The Spring Clothes Swap. For starters\, racks of clothing\, a glass of lavender lemonade\, some delicious sweets\, + a donation to Fashion Revolution\, to support them in eliminating injustice in the fashion industry. Tickets are $10 if purchased before the day of and $15 at the door. You can buy your ticket here. \nSWAP GUIDELINES\n\nCost: Tickets are $10 if purchased before the day of the Swap. On the day of the Swap\, they will be sold for $15.\nThe Spring Clothes Swap will have women’s and men’s attire\, shoes\, and accessories.\nWe will take as many items as you want to donate. Items need to be gently used and quality pieces (no pills\, stains\, rips) and can include clothing\, shoes\, and accessories. No undergarments\, please. Also\, if possible – bring your clothing items on hangers. This will greatly help the admin process.\nAs far as dropping off your items\, bring them to the shop any day we are open\, beginning Friday\, April 5th and until the day of the Swap.
