DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Steve Prince Mural Reveal Event on Tuesday\, November 19 at 4:30pm. \nMural Location: On the side of FedEx\, 200 Monticello Ave. \nThe Virginia African American Cultural Center has brought this Steve Prince Mural to life in Williamsburg as part of statewide effort to raise awareness for black history. \nThis mural has been named “Pieces of History”. \nArtist statement: “The mural features a woman quilting the history of our nation from the south to north\, and east and west. The fragments and piece create a communal quilt that bespeak of the fragments that formulate all humankind from the past to the present. The woman is carrying the weight of the issues of our nation in her hands that stem from North to South\, East to West on the quilt. She is the mother that washed the clothes\, that birthed the children\, that cooked the food\, that tended to the sick\, and protected the family by any means necessary. The colors of the mural amplifying the beauty of a patchwork quilt\, deftly stitched together by generational hands. The woman is strong and sturdy and she has seen a lot in her journey. She sews with the hope that we will remember and find a way together to mend the broken places and promote healing for a true communal body.” \nThe mural is brought to you by the Virginia African American Cultural Center\, ViBe Creative\, The City of Williamsburg’s Public Art Council\, and Midtown Row.

DESCRIPTION:WHAT:\nAn outdoor community-wide walking event for all ages emphasizing walking for health\, active transportation\, the environment – and fun! This is a “walk at your own pace\, start any time\, start anywhere” fun walk\, not a race. All ages can participate. Distances from  1 to 10 miles. \nThere will be entertainment\, garden visits\, food and refreshment\, and other activities along the route. Walkers will experience special places easily accessed by foot in the central Williamsburg area. \nWHERE:\nParticipants can start at any point and walk any portion of the three routes. Together\, the three routes comprise a figure “8” with Merchant’s Square in the middle. \nMap 1 is the Downtown Williamsburg Loop (3.5 Miles) encompassing the College of William and Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. \nMap 2 is the William and Mary\, Midtown Row\, and New Town Loop (3.3 or 5.7 Miles). \nMap 3 is Colonial Williamsburg and The Edge District (5.1 Miles). \nDownload your chosen Route(s) to your device or print. To download the Maps\, click in the “Download PDF of Map” link below the map. All routes are on sidewalks and multiuse paths in Williamsburg and James City County.
